Last week was good as I was in Bangkok and It was great to be there
Nothing can go wrong there as the city bounce back very strongly. Where many cities are bit slow during weekends , it was opposite there. actually you cannot make out the difference between weekdays and weekends. Markets were full, restaurants were doing great and food wise – Bangkok is paradise for foodies
Last time if I remember , I was there in 2009 and after I open ” Academy of Patry Arts Malaysia ” I could not get time to visit there again
Chef Eric Perez was a great host and I was amazed to see his school. I was thinking it would be small but it was actually pretty big with a small cafe cum Pastry shop which open in weekdays.Macaron Pastry Training Centre – One of the finest and best Pastry school from last 10 years there
Some thing very Interesting come to our conversation , first he was amazed that we sell our full time program at a very cheap price. Second he feel that “Academy of Pastry Arts ” as a group have grown up very fast all over Asia and Internationally .Third & last is the role we play in Asia Pacific in terms of our contribution to Pastry chefs community
It was also a pleasure to meet chef En ming , world Pastry champion 2001 who was busy taking a great workshop on Jams and Jellies. I wish I could have stayed more to taste them as well. I remember meeting her in US way back in 2007 during World Pastry forum , Nashville.
Coming back to point , I try to put my view very straight forward. Academy of Pastry Arts group is all about creating a platform for young pastry chefs to start a great professional learning at an affordable price and start a career. Career in Hotel, Pastry shops, Restaurants or start up your own.
Our full time Program is atleast 50 – 60 % cheaper then so called bigger brand of pastry / Culinary school ain US and atleast 60- 70 % less cheaper then Pastry schools in Europe. No offence, sometime I see these schools as brands of shoes or cloths. People pay more for these brands rather then learning.
This is the core reason of Academy and we decide this way back in 2012 when we were just one Pastry school
Is it so difficult to understand?
Anyway, what I really find out during this Bangkok trip was very surprising. Market is great. Pastry and bakery business is good and growing up.
Offcourse there is a great demand of a professional Pastry school like Academy of Pastry Arts there and well, I am very positive about the country and its spectrum of growth
Pastry is all like chemistry, every thing is about precision. it has to be trained by professional pastry chefs who have credential, exposure and skills. And if you dont have it then, demand allows business minded , unskilled and unprofessional people to venture into it.
This is the biggest Problem !!!!
Right people does not take correct Initiative allow wrong people to venture into it and make it a mess
